Flood water became contaminated. Underground gas and oil tanks were disturbed Leaking sewer and gas pipes contaminated floodwater.Human corpse and dead pets raised risk of bacterial contamination. Placed dredged material as platform for plants to grow on. The Louisiana coastal area ecosystem restoration plan planned to rebuild barrier islands and replant marsh grass.
